FY27 BUDGET PACKET
In accordance with the Town of Southbridge Home Rule Charter, I am presenting a balanced Fiscal Year 2027 Budget (FY27) and Capital Plan for the Town of Southbridge. This budget is a result of countless hours of work and extensive collaboration between our Finance Team and Town Departments.

Community Clean-Up
Southbridge – IMAGINE what our town could look like if we all worked together for just 3 hours.
We are excited to announce our ANNUAL Earth Day Community Clean-Up event. On Saturday, April 25th we will unite together to Beautify Southbridge, build teamwork all while taking pride in our Community. A place we call home.
Whether it’s your neighborhood, downtown area or the local park each and every bag filled will have a positive impact.
Grabbers, gloves and bags will be provided. Let’s all take the first step together on Saturday, April 25th from 9am-Noon and help our community shine one street at time.

Nomination Papers Available
The Annual Town Election will be held in Southbridge on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 and nomination papers will be available to persons who wish to run for local office in the Town Election beginning on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The offices needing to be filled are:
Councilor At Large (Three Years) Three
School Committee (Three Years) Three
Board of Assessors (Three Years) One
Southbridge Housing Authority (Five Years) One
Nomination papers require 43 signatures for all town-wide offices. Nomination papers must be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office for certification of signatures by Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 5:00 PM. For more information regarding the Town Election for Southbridge and how to obtain nomination papers, call the Office of the Town Clerk at 508-764-5408.”

457 Deferral Limit Rises for 2022
The maximum amount you can contribute to a 457 retirement plan in 2022 is $20,500. That's and increase of $1,000 over 2021. If you're 50 or older, your plan may allow you to contribute an additional $6,500 as a "catch-up" contribution, bringing your contribution total to $27,000.

About the Wastewater News Feed
In accordance with new DEP regulation 314 CMR 16.00, as of July 6, 2022, the Town will be required to notify the public of certain Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) and discharges of partially treated effluent from our Wastewater Treatment Plant which have the potential to impact the quality of surface waters of the Commonwealth. This news feed will contain those notifications.
In order to receive an email or text when these notifications are pushed out, please follow the following instructions:
- Navigate to the Town website at https://www.ci.southbridge.ma.us/. If you do not already have an account, click "Create an Account" in the banner at the top of the screen. Enter the requested information to create your account.
- Once you're signed into your account, click the "Notify Me" button on the home page, located beneath the banner image.
- On the "Notify Me" page, scroll to the bottom to find the News Flash section. Click the email and/or text buttons next to "Wastewater Department" in order to receive notifications. If the site requests any additional actions, such as email or text confirmation, complete the request in order to ensure you will receive the News Flashes.
