As of 2:15AM on 12/19/2023 The Town of Southbridge Sewer department is no longer discharging partially treated wastewater into the Quinebaug River. This discharge was due to heavy rain event sustained on 12/18/2023. Current flow rate of WWTP is 12.41 MGD; design flow is 3.77MGD.
Please Avoid contact with The Quinebaug River, and Bodies of water to the East "Downstream" for 48 hours after the discharge or overflow ceases due to increased health risks from bacteria and other pollutants.
